Introduction

WELCOME TO HOUNDTOWN!

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club will celebrate it's 41st season in the Ontario Hockey League in 2012/2013. Hound Power enters this key recruiting season leading into the 2012 OHL Priority Selection with 20 draft choices in the upcoming draft, including 6 of the first approximately 65 selections.

The Hounds are one of twenty member teams in the OHL – a league that operates under the umbrella of the Canadian Hockey League – the #1 supplier of talent to the NHL
The Greyhounds play in the West Division along with the Saginaw Spirit, Sarnia Sting, Plymouth Whalers and Windsor Spitfires.

Since joining the league prior to the 1972-73 season, the Greyhounds have won the OHL Championship on three separate occasions (1985, 1991, 1992) while claiming the Memorial Cup on home ice in 1993.  That appearance at the National Championship marked the team’s third straight trip to the tournament. Three of the top 13 scorers in National Hockey League history developed into professionals as Greyhounds - Wayne Gretzky, Ron Francis, and Paul Coffey.

Presently, Hounds Director of Scouting Mike MacFarlane, Director of Player Development Wes Clark, General Manager Kyle Dubas, and the entire Hounds scouting staff are busy scouting throughout North America in hopes of finding the next great Greyhounds players.

We hope that the following pages will give you and your family some valuable insight about the Soo Greyhounds’ program and our community.
