Four-year Hounds defenseman to be honoured prior to Hounds/Spirit
He played all four years of his Major Junior career here in Sault Ste. Marie (245 gp, 27g, 100a, 295 PIM). And tonight, ROB ZETTLER will receive the distinction of being inducted into the Sault Ste. Marie Hockey Hall of Fame prior to the Hounds hosting the Saginaw Spirit.
Pre-game ceremonies are expected to begin at 7 p.m. with puck drop immediately following.
A native of Sept-Iles, Quebec, Zettler was later drafted 55th overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft.
He would make his professional debut in the 1988-89 season and go on to play 14 seasons as a defenceman with the Minnesota North Stars, San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Nashville Predators and Washington Capitals.
He announced his retirement on August 27, 2002 after playing in 569 games and is presently an Assistant Coach with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch.
On behalf of the Soo Greyhounds organization, we would like to congratulate on of our own, ROB ZETTLER, on being inducted into the SSM Hockey Hall of Fame.
