Loss snaps four-game winning streak for Hounds
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON -
The visiting Sarnia Sting opened, and closed, the scoring on Saturday Night with even strength goals en-route to a 6-3 victory over the Soo Greyhounds.
The loss snaps the Hounds winning streak at four games while dropping their record to 5 wins and 2 losses, good for 10 points overall.
Specialty teams were the difference-maker on the night as the Sting scored 4 powerplay goals while the Hounds went 2-for-8 on the man advantage of their own.
The locals lost the services of veteran defenceman RYAN SPROUL some 40 seconds into the opening period when he went down inside the Sting zone and appeared to be favouring his left wrist/arm and did no return to the game. No update was available on his status at the time of writing.
Scoring for the Hounds were ALEX GUDBRANSON (1st), NICK COUSINS (5th) and SERGEY TOLCHINSKY (4th) while MATT MURRAY made 37 saves in the loss.
The games Red Star First Star, Alex Galchenyuk had two goals and two assists to lead the visiting Sting while singles were added by Craig Hottot, Reid Boucher, Nikolay Goldobin and Justice Dundas. Rookie netminder Brodie Barrick made his 1st career start picking up the win.
Next action for the Hounds is this coming Thursday Night - October 11th - when the Hounds skate into the WFCU Centre in Windsor to take on the Spitfires.
