Former Hound part of Florida's first ECHL championship
Former Soo Greyhound BRANDON MACLEAN scored 4:54 into overtime of Game 5 to lift the Florida Everblades (ECHL) to their first Kelly Cup Championship.
The Everblades defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers in five games.
Originally drafted by the Hounds in the 3rd Round of the 2003 OHL Priority Selection, MacLean spent his entire Major Junior career with the Hounds.
During four seasons, spanning 2004-05 through 2007-08, Brandon appeared in 246 games accumulating 47 goals and 64 assists good for 111 points.
It was during that time MacLean held the prestigious honour of being named Captain of the Hounds as well.
Following his OHL career he went on to study Law at Carleton University (Ottawa, ON) and suited up for the Ravens for four years starting in 2008/09 and through to this past season. While in the Nation's Capital MacLean appeared in 108 games and produced steady offensive output total of 47 gals and 96 assists.
At the conclusion of his academic season at Carleton, Brandon joined the Everblades eventually leading up to his overtime heroics.
In 13 games with Florida Brandon had 3 goals and 4 assists.
