Hounds Fall to Guelph Storm

The Soo Greyhounds dropped their third game in a row Friday night falling 8-3 to the Guelph Storm before a crowd of 3,017 at Memorial Gardens. The Storm scored 4 unanswered goals in the opening period and never looked back.  Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn led the Storm with 2 goals and an assist. Singles went to Matt Ryan, Brett Trudell, Kyle Spurr, Ryan Callahan, Martin St. Pierre and Daniel Paille.  The Greyhounds goal-getters were Chris Lawrence (pictured), Jeff Carter and Matt Puntureri. All the Soo goals came in the third period.  The Storm outshot the Hounds 42-33.  Goaltender Kevin Druce played the first period but was replaced by Jakub Cech. It was 4-0 Guelph after 1 period and 6-0 after 2. The three stars were Matt Ryan (1), Martin St. Pierre (2) and Brett Trudell (3).  It was the Storm's second win in as many meetings between the clubs this year.

The loss dropped the Soo's record to 12-9-1-1 while the Storm improve to 13-5-2. The Hounds conclude a their three-game home stand Saturday night when they host Mississauga at 7:30 p.m.
